What's New for the 2025 Ford Explorer?

The Ford Explorer has been a popular pick among three-row SUVs for years, and with several improvements for the 2025 model year, it's now better than ever. The Explorer's exterior and interior have been updated to stay fresh. The 2025 version has a new front and rear design. Inside, it features a refreshed interior that includes a Google-based infotainment system. Some trims also offer BlueCruise.

What Trims & Features Does the 2025 Explorer Offer?

The 2025 Ford Explorer comes in four trim levels.

The base model, the Active, comes with plenty of features, such as tri-zone climate control, heated front seats with multiple adjustments, keyless entry, push-button start, and second-row captain's chairs that allow seating for seven passengers. The Active also includes wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Google voice commands and navigation, a digital instrument cluster, and a six-speaker sound system. It rides on 18-inch wheels and has a power liftgate and LED lighting. An optional package also adds a heated steering wheel, a remote start, a more adjustable front passenger seat, and synthetic leather seats.

The ST-Line offers a sportier look with more interior upgrades. It has a black grille, body trim, darker headlamps, and taillights. The ST-Line includes 20-inch wheels and black synthetic leather seats with red stitching. Additional safety features and an upgraded B&O 10-speaker sound system are also included.

The ST model has 21-inch wheels, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and heated second-row seats.

The Platinum trim has a dual-pane sunroof, leather seats, a 14-speaker sound system, and adaptive headlights.

How Much Horsepower Does the 2025 Explorer Provide?

The Explorer's base engine is a 2.3L four-cylinder with 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque.

A 3.0L powers the ST and optional Platinum trim turbocharged V6, producing 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque.

What Safety Features Does the 2025 Explorer Have?

The Explorer has a suite of safety features, including rear parking sensors, forward collision alert, adaptive cruise control, lane centering, intersection collision mitigation, and evasive steering assist.
