Specs at a Glance

If a large truck is on your mind for a new car in 2021, the Ford F-150 makes an excellent option. The F-150, which has enjoyed a long history as one of the country's most popular trucks, is improved even more for 2021. The F-150 ranks at the top of its class this year with updates to its interior amenities and performance. For the first time, the F-150 is available with a hybrid powertrain. Even the base trim level, which is the XL, comes loaded with features and a wide range of engines. There are even more features to enjoy up the line, including more standard items with the mid-level trim called the Lariat. This year, the Lariat adds more technology and safety aids, which are available for the base trim level.

Many engines are available for both the XL and the Lariat trims in 2021. The standard engine for both trim levels is a V6 with a 3.3L displacement. This engine gives the XL and Lariat a power output of 290 HP and 265 LB-FT in torque. Several additional gasoline engines are available, including a turbo 2.7L V6 with a power rating of 325 HP and up to 400 LB-FT in torque, followed by a turbo V6 engine with a torque output that increases to 500 LB-FT. A diesel engine is available for the trim that generates 250 HP and 440 LB-FT in torque, or you can opt for the new hybrid powertrain that combines the standard engine with an electric motor to give you 430 HP and 570 LB-FT of torque. Four-wheel drive is available, and both trims can tow 14,000 pounds.

Steel wheels are standard on the 2021 Ford F-150 XL, while you will get alloy wheels instead by upgrading to the Lariat. The Lariat also has a trailer hitch and LED lighting in the truck bed. Both trim levels have a prominent front grille and LED headlights for safety and style. Three cab styles are offered with either.

In 2021, the XL provides you with a standard eight-inch infotainment system that comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Vinyl floors are standard, and you'll get manually-operated windows unless you get the SuperCrew, which has power-operated windows instead. Carpeted floors, leather seats, heated front seats, and a new 12-inch display screen are standard features on the Lariat. Both trim levels are equipped with advanced safety technology.
