What Are the Ford Expedition Trims & Features?

Ford offers the Expedition in five trim levels: XT, XLT, Limited, King Ranch, and Platinum. New for 2021 is the five-passenger XT model, which is only available for fleet buyers.

Featuring a power-folding third row, the XLT trim is expected to remain a popular choice. Some of the standard equipment includes an 8.0-inch SYNC 3 touchscreen with advanced smartphone support, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and tri-zone automatic climate control.

If you seek more luxury, consider upgrading to the Limited trim. It receives a hands-free tailgate, a 12-speaker B&O premium sound system, and ambient interior lighting.

Near the top of the lineup is the plush King Country trim. Leather upholstery gives its cabin an upscale feel. Other key features include a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera system, an automated parking system, and second-row captain's chairs. Larger 22-inch alloy wheels also help bolster the SUV's styling.

The range-topping Platinum trim is loaded with more lavish features. It's the only trim in the lineup that provides massaging front seats and an adaptive suspension.

Raw Power and Stellar Performance

Under the hood of the Expedition rests a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine. While the standard version develops 375 horsepower, special tuning enables the Platinum model to crank out 400 horsepower. Every new Expedition uses a 10-speed automatic transmission. Not only does the Expedition rank among the quickest SUVs in the class, but it also boasts a 9,300-pound maximum towing capacity. An FX4 off-road package is available for drivers who need to tackle rough terrain.

The 2021 Ford Expedition comes standard with Ford Co-Pilot360, which is a collection of advanced safety technologies. Features include automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-keeping assist. Ford's MyKey system is also standard.
