How Well Does It Perform?

The 2019 Ford Explorer delivers impressive performance across all trims thanks to its well-designed powertrain options. Three engines are available across the five available trims for 2019. In the base Explorer, you will benefit from an automatic transmission with a Ti-VCT V6, 3.5-liter engine. It produces 290 horsepower and 255 foot-pounds for torque. Stepping up to a mid-range powertrain, your Explorer will be equipped with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine that generates 280 horsepower with 310 foot-pounds of torque.

Enhanced performance is available through the 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine, which gives you 365 horsepower along with 350 foot-pounds of torque. Standard or optional related equipment includes electric power steering, trailer sway control, hill descent control, terrain management control, hill start assist and front and rear independent suspensions.
