2017 Ford Expedition Overview

Referred to as a traditional SUV, the 2017 Ford Expedition in Houston offers everything and more you'd expect from a large crossover, including plenty of passenger space, ample cargo room and excellent towing capabilities. To complement these attributes, the model also comes with foldable rear seats, a mighty V6 engine and seating for up to eight passengers.

Unchanged for 2017, the Expedition continues to be a prime SUV. Learn about the model in our 2017 Ford Expedition review below and decide if it's the right choice for you.

Four Models, Several Features

Offered in standard and extended-length body styles, the Expedition comes in four trims: XLT, Limited, King Ranch and Platinum. These examples can be had with either two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, benefiting drivers with different needs.

XLT Model

The entry-level XLT trim is equipped with heated mirrors, LED foglights, automatic headlights, A/C, Bluetooth, power-adjustable pedals, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, Ford SYNC, satellite radio, a roof rack and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

Limited Model

The Limited model adds dual-zone automatic climate control, SYNC 3, a 10-way power front passenger seat, heated/ventilated seats, 20-inch wheels, automatic wipers, heated second-row seats, an upgraded 12-spealer Sony audio system and power-folding mirrors.

King Ranch

Known for its Western aesthetic, the King Ranch features special styling, two-tone paint, leather seating, and wood grain interior trim.

The Platinum features the same components as King Ranch, but nixes the Western styling. It also sports 22-inch wheels and a sunroof.

Turbo V6 Power

Highlighted in many 2017 Ford Expedition reviews, a turbo 3.5L V6 is outfitted on the SUV. It produces 365 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque, and is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. When properly equipped, the Expedition can tow up to 9,200 pounds.

With rear-wheel drive, the standard-length Expedition offers an EPA-estimated 18 mpg combined, 15 city and 22 highway. Despite its size, the model is also one of the quickest SUVs in its class.

Safety Amenities

All versions of the 2017 Ford Expedition in Houston come with a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, airbags, antilock brakes, stability control, traction control and trailer sway control. Front parking sensors and blind-spot monitoring are also offered on select models, providing additional safety for passengers while on the road.
