Ford and Partners Move Forward with ACCELERATE

Ford has traditionally set the pace as an iconic American vehicle manufacturer. With a stellar reputation both domestically and globally, Ford is proud to supply drivers with high-quality automobiles while investing heavily in the American workforce. At a Michigan event dubbed “ACCELERATE the Essential Economy,” Ford's leadership recently unpacked the economic hurdles currently impacting the U.S. and outlined their corrective strategies.

What is “ACCELERATE the Essential Economy”?

“ACCELERATE the Essential Economy” operates as a vital forum where skilled trades professionals, educators, business leaders, and policymakers meet to confront economic challenges. The summit's second installment was hosted in September 2026 at Michigan Central Station. The venue was as deeply relevant as the policies discussed within its walls. Rehabilitated through the hard work of 3,000 skilled individuals, the station now serves as a central hub for developing multi-sector solutions to America's skilled trades shortage.

At this year's conference, Ford was joined by prominent partners like The Home Depot, The Wallace Foundation, and Dycom. Together, this alliance is underwriting a national education campaign set for 2027 to attract more young American talent to the skilled trades. Driven by research from the Ad Council, the campaign addresses the reality that while 38 percent of high schoolers would contemplate a trade, only 11 percent actually intend to pursue it. The coalition intends to eliminate the major roadblocks of public stigma and insufficient information.

Ford's Action Plan

Ford, alongside its partners, has rolled out a sweeping plan to guide young workers toward skilled trades and enhance their career trajectories. First, Ford Philanthropy is stepping up its mobility and transportation assistance in various communities to prevent travel limitations from derailing career goals. Furthermore, Ford Pro is launching Ford Pro Advantage, the first-ever certified pre-owned program for Class 1-7 commercial vehicles. Available at over 700 Commercial Vehicle Centers, it makes commercial ownership much more accessible. Lastly, alongside the launch of the Michigan Launchpad for Industrial Innovation & Transformation (Michigan LIFT), Ford Philanthropy and JPMorganChase committed $550,000 to Focus: HOPE, a Detroit-based organization that provides job training and education.
