The recent wildfires in Los Angeles, CA, have had far-reaching and devastating impacts, leaving many people homeless and a large number of businesses destroyed. Despite the significant losses suffered, the auto industry—especially the iconic American automaker Ford Motors—has provided a helping hand to the community. Ford has shared plans to assist both affected community members and first responders as they work on recovery and rebuilding.
How is Ford Helping?
Ford dealerships across 13 states in the Western US and Ford Philanthropy have donated to the California Community Foundation's Wildlife Recovery Fund. They have donated $465,000 to help local organizations in California secure the supplies and resources needed to support community members. The funds raised by Ford and its philanthropic branch also benefit the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation. Besides supporting the broader LA community, Ford is offering displaced residents discounted prices on Ford vehicles and deferred payment options. Additionally, customers who purchase an electric vehicle receive free electric chargers, and Ford employees are granted paid leave to assist in wildfire recovery.
What Organizations Does Ford Support?
Ford's donations benefit various organizations in the LA area. The American Red Cross, Feeding America, World Central Kitchen, and Team Rubicon are among those receiving support from Ford's contributions. Collectively, these organizations are providing continuous assistance to LA wildfire victims as they rebuild after the fires. The Red Cross continues to offer shelter and essential supplies to those displaced, while Team Rubicon is working to deliver longer-term support as victims wait for their homes to be restored. Both Feeding America and the World Central Kitchen are dedicated to supplying meals and food to the affected community.
Special Electric Vehicle Support
Those residing in the FEMA disaster area and owners of Ford and Lincoln vehicles are eligible for special Ford incentives. This includes reimbursement for all-electric vehicles charged at a charging station from January 7 - 31. Local Ford dealerships can also provide free charging adapters to customers who have lost their homes or are using an electric vehicle to assist with disaster relief. Ford is also offering free replacements for customers whose home charging stations were lost in the fires.
