First seen at last year's SEMA auto show, the life-sized Hot Wheels Rip Rod is every young car enthusiast's dream. It was just a mere static project when we first had the pleasure of laying our eyes upon it, but now Ford has stepped up to the plate, outfitting it with their smallest EcoBoost, a 1.0L displacement. The tiny engine, which can fit in a suitcase, was just the right fit for the Hot Wheels Rip Rod, providing the perfect amount of raw power. You can check out a clip of the car in action below and witness your childhood Hot Wheel dreams come to life!
Created by Mattel and Bandito Brothers, the Hot Wheels Rip Rod is a performance-oriented small vehicle. When equipped with Ford's 1.0L EcoBoost engine, it delivers incredible power; however, there has been no official word on its exact output. Ford's 1.0L EcoBoost has the ability to produce anywhere from 99 horsepower to 202 horsepower, and by the looks of the Rip Rod tearing up the terrain in the above video, we're thinking its horsepower is on the higher end of the spectrum. With durability and efficiency to go along with its power capabilities, the Hot Wheels Rip Rod is an incredible fun-to-drive project car.
