Innovation is the key to evolution and Ford believes they have developed a new wave of steering technology that will expand our driving capabilities and disband limitations set by traditional steering, enhancing the overall driving experience. Known as Adaptive Steering, the technology is said to improve steering at both low and high speeds, making it easier for drivers to maneuver in a variety of conditions.

Made possible by an electric motor and gearing system installed within the steering wheel, Adaptive Steering operates by altering the steering ratio depending on the driver's actions, which modifies the amount of turning the driver has to do in order to maneuver the car. This is beneficial in many situations, including when parking into a small space, where a driver would typically have to make strenuous efforts turning the wheel to successfully park into the designated spot. With the new technology, steering response will also increase while traveling at high speeds on the freeway, improving ride quality. Enhancements in agility and easier turning when cruising at low speeds are among the technology's greatest benefits, which will transform the way we drive for the better.

Ford's revolutionary new Adaptive Steering technology is scheduled to debut on specific models early next year. To get a quick sneak peek of the technology's capabilities, take a look at the short clip below.
