Interbrand's "2014 Best Global Green Brands" list is out, and after landing at number two on last year's list, we're pleased to announce that Ford ranked number one for 2014 due to their continuous efforts in sustainability. Their initiatives to reduce waste by finding alternative uses for materials and their water conservation projects have been beneficial for the company in more ways than one, contributing to their newfound success on Interbrand's annual list.

"We are honored to be named No. 1 in the 2014 Best Global Green Brands," said Robert Brown, vice president, Sustainability, Environment & Safety Engineering. "At Ford we are working to develop the highest-quality products in the market for our customers while manufacturing them in the most environmentally responsible manner and replicating this globally. This award tells us that our stakeholders agree."

In order to find out where each brand would land out their 2014 list, Interbrand began by analyzing the brands that end up on their yearly list. They utilized consumer research to discover how people felt about each brand's green efforts and also reviewed sustainability performance data for addtional accuracy. Overall, they found that Ford is currently the top green brand in the world, dethroning last year's number-one brand, Toyota, and surpassing the likes of Nissan, Honda, Panasonic and Nokia as well.
