Due to improved handling and acceleration which can be attributed to the F-150s weight reduction, Ford engineers came up with the idea to offer sport mode on the 2015 F-150. Since the Mustang and F-150 share certain automatic transmission technology, it was easy for them to add a sport mode feature to the pickup. The system, which is activated by pushing the tow-haul mode button twice, alters the frequency of gearshifts and holds low gears for a longer period of time, remaining in what Ford engineers call the "sweet spot." The helps to provide quicker acceleration and immediate performance feel, which results in a fun driving experience.
