Ford Philanthropy: Looking at 75 Years of Community Impact

Ford Motor Company isn't just known for legendary cars like the Mustang and cutting-edge vehicles like the Lightning; it's also committed to a long history of philanthropy, dating back to its earliest days. Ford transformed automobiles from luxury items into daily necessities for Americans, but its impact goes further. Communities have built Ford, and Ford has reciprocated by investing in those same communities.

75 Years of Giving Back

Philanthropy has always been a priority for Ford. In 1949, Henry Ford II created the Ford Motor Company Fund to ensure that the company contributed to society's well-being.

Now called Ford Philanthropy, the organization marks its 75th year of giving. Early on, Ford's efforts funded hospitals and public works, including the Detroit Civic Center. The University of Michigan-Dearborn also partly owes its development to Ford's support.

In today's world, Ford Philanthropy continues its mission through projects like community cleanups. Ford has contributed an impressive $2.3 billion to various causes, demonstrating the company's long-standing commitment to giving back.

Ford Philanthropy's president, Mary Culler, said, “As we celebrate 75 years of impact, we remain deeply committed to leveraging Ford's unique capabilities and expertise,” and emphasized Ford's dedication to helping communities where the company has deep roots.
