How to Connect to Ford Vehicle Wi-Fi

Many Ford vehicles have SYNC systems onboard that can allow you to create a hotspot right from your truck or car. You can then connect up to 10 of your devices to this 4G LTE network. It stretches 50 feet around your vehicle. Here's a bit on how you can get this working.

Starting Up Your HotSpot

The most important part of starting this process is to make sure you are parked first. Make sure it's a safe area, and you have some time to perform the setup. Startup your vehicle and tap the “Settings” option on your SYNC device. Make sure SYNC Connect is activated and that you downloaded the FordPass app for the device as well. Also, check out the free data trial after you get it set up.

From the setting screen, scroll over to where it says “WiFi and Hotspot” are and select that option. Then select the tab that says “Vehicle Hotspot.”

Next, you're going to want to make sure the Hotspot is turned on. You can look to see if the “on” option is selected next to the Hotspot option on that screen. If you tap it, then it should turn on if it's off right now.

It's also important that you make sure you know what it says next to SSID because this is the name of your network. This is under Settings. You can change the default name and password by hitting the “edit” option near the center bottom area of the screen. This will allow you to change your WiFi name and password if you'd rather make it something else. It often helps to not use the default if you're worried about security.

When you're getting ready to connect to the hotspot, make sure that you turn the “WiFi Visibility” option on. This will make sure that you can see your hotspot option when you go to look for it on your device.

To connect to your hotspot, just activate your device's Wifi, and find the WiFi menu. It's usually somewhere under Settings. Turn on your WiFi, find your hotspot name, add the password and connect to it.
