
Ford is steadily working to develop new technology that will help make driving easier for its customers. The company's latest feature, split-view camera, which allows drivers to see obstacles heading toward the vehicle from the side, is currently being integrated on new Ford models in an effort to reduce potential accidents and make driving less stressful for everyone.
Available on the 2015 Ford Edge and 2016 Explorer, Ford's split-view camera uses wide-angle lens cameras on the grille and/or tailgate of the vehicle to provide drivers with a 180-degree view around the front or rear of the car. The tech, which can be turned on inside of the vehicle, feeds real-time video to the car’s 8-inch display, for all passengers to see. The system will stay on until the car reaches 6.2 mph and then it will shut down automatically.
The 2015 Ford Edge currently offers front split-view, while the 2016 Ford Explorer comes with front and rear split-view. In addition to this tech, Ford plans to have standard rear-view cameras on its entire roster in North America by 2018.
