The F-150 Raptor is one vehicle that always delivers high performance. It's well-known for its off-roading capabilities, so when it came time to put the upcoming 2017 F-150 Raptor throughout durability testing, the automaker pulled out all the stops. On a special course created way out in the southwest, the pickup truck endured over 1,000 miles of testing at the hands of Ford engineers. It overcame a barrage of obstacles in the desert heat and finished strong, proving it's ready to conquer just about anything.

To test the 2017 Raptor, Ford created a 66-mile course in the desert that mirrored the Baja racecourse located in Mexico. Running at an average speed of 50 mph, the pickup truck had to tackle a variety of challenges, including small trenches, steep and sandy hill climbs, silt beds and sand-filled washes. The Raptor finished each lap with a tabletop jump, and after several quick, successful runs, engineers found that the new Raptor is 25 percent faster than the model currently on sale today. Over the next few months, Ford will continue to test the vehicle in other areas, and in the fall of 2016, it will be released on the market.
