The always popular Ford Mustang may feature quite a few changes when it strolls onto the market for the 2018 model year. Recent news in the automotive world suggests the pony could come equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission and reintroduce the Mach 1 back into the lineup. Additional styling modifications may also appear on the future model, enhancing its overall appearance and attracting new buyers.

For some time now, Ford has been working closely with General Motors to create a 10-speed automatic transmission, and if several auto sources prove to be correct the new transmission could end up on the 2018 Ford Mustang. The component, which is being designed to operate at the perfect rpm range, will significantly improve the driving experience for all Mustang owners. In addition to this benefit, the use of a 10-speed transmission will also boost performance and lead to greater fuel economy.

Aside from receiving a possible 10-speed automatic, it's also being said that the 2018 Mustang may bring back the Mach 1 model. It's been a solid 11 years since Ford offered a Mach 1 Mustang, but with an onslaught of new models being introduced each year it may be time to reintroduce a classic. Originally packed with a series of exclusive features, including Brembo front brakes and Tokico gas shocks, the Mach 1 was a must-have model. If it returns in 2018, it's likely to offer brand-new exclusive components and high-end performance that will set it apart from other Mustang models.
